PSNC consistently realizes the idea of metacomputer building. High Performance Computing, the number of solved problems and requirements of specified computations type and data backup - these are the points which determine the computer system functionality. Because of the limited computing power, high performance computations cannot be realized on the single computer system. The advanced visualization requires specialized hardware accelerators also.
Such requirements are satisfied by the computational environment consisting of several different, specialized computing systems managed by the common resource planning policy (architectures: SMP, tightly coupled clusters: IA64, AMD64). Recently there has been a raising trend observed in the utilization of resources which implicates long term development of new type of computational environment: grid. The initiatives taken up by our center focus on resource sharing with other computing centers basing on the mutual rule. This road map results from the need of loadbalancing which yelds the faster user task completion.
